Timing of vaccinations
Typhoid Oral
- Contraindicated in pregnancy, immunocompromised
- Antibiotics - allow 48 hours before and after
vaccination.
- Chloraquine and mefloquine should be started 3
days after completion of typhoid (WHO)
- NHMRC recommends giving Sabin (OPV) and
typhoid oral 2 weeks apart (debatable)
- Immunoglobulin does not interfere
- Malarone - allow 10 day interval after
completing oral typhoid
Yellow Fever:
- Contraindicated in those with true egg allergy and immunocompromised ** (scroll to Adverse Reactions)
- Live vaccines MMR and Varicella should be given concurrently or at least 4 weeks apart
- Oral cholera, Sabin (OPV), Typhoid oral and
BCG do not inhibit immune response
- Hepatitis, typhoid, DTP and meningococcal
vaccines do not interact
- Rabies, Japanese Encephalitis and Plague
vaccines - interaction not known
Allergies
- Egg - yellow fever, MMR, influenza
- Neomycin - MMR
