The Division no longer has responsibility for the Closing the Gap program

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri people and other peoples of the Kulin nation as the Traditional Owners of the land on which our work in the community takes place. We pay our respects to their Elders past and present.

Indigenous PIP & PBS Co-Payment

Configuring Medical Director for ‘Closing the Gap’ Co-payment Measures (including Script Annotation) - The PBS Close the Gap co-payment measure has been developed to provide assistance to eligible Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients to improve access to PBS medicines through co-payment relief.
What to do in Medical Director
  • Make sure that the patient’s ATSI status is recorded in patient software
  • Indicate whether your practice participates in the CTG PBS Co-payment measure via Tools > Options > Practice tab
  • Indicate whether a patient is registered for the CTG Co-payment relief from within the patient’s record via Patient >Details
Once this is done the CTG status will be shown on the patient’s main screen next to ATSI and eligibility will be printed on the PBS prescriptions.

PBS Co-payment Measure
  • The PBS Co-Payment measure enables Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who have, or are at risk of, a chronic disease to access medicines on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) at reduced or no cost.
  • To access these medicines at low or no cost, patients need to register with a medical practice that is registered for the Practice Incentive Payment (PIP) Indigenous Health Incentive.
  • Scripts need to be annotated by the medical practitioner as CTG.
