Question: We have just updated to MD3 and when I print a referral the Medication list contains a reason for prescribing column and this causes a very messy “look”. How do I fix this?
Answer: You need to reset the Medication list preferences.
1. Open LetterWriter and from the File menu select Preferences…
2. Click on the Field tab.
3. Scroll down and click on the Medication list and then click on the Set Field defaults button.
4. This opens the Medication Field Properties dialogue box - remove the tick from the Reason for Prescribing box.
But, unfortunately this does not work as you would like. This removes the “Reason” but not the “Reason” column. As a short term “fix” until HCN resolves the issue, place cursor anywhere in the offending column of the Medication list (e.g. Reason column) and from the Table menu select Delete > Columns.

Alzheimer's Australia is releasing tomorrow a report “Making Choices – Future Dementia Care: Projections, problems and preferences” that shows Australia is facing a shortage of nearly 60,000 paid workers to care for people with dementia, and that the problem will be compounded by a shortfall of 94,000 unpaid (family) carers. This represents an increase in the current workforce of 76% within two decades. For the first time, the report also draws together surveys of carer preferences and suggests new strategies and recommendations to address the looming challenges identified in the supply of dementia care services in this country. The report and media release can be found here.
