Immunisation

HPV program to finish June 2009

Australia has been one of the first countries to deliver a National cervical cancer vaccination program. The program is designed to help protect young women from the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) strains. Queensland so far has the lowest rate of distribution in Australia. The program is designed specifically for young women in the 18 – 26 year age bracket. The vaccinations are funded under the National Program and due to finish on 30 June 2009.

Encourage young woman to start their course of 3 vaccinations NOW to fit in with the free program.

Information Management

General Computer Tip - Misuse of spacebar

Sometimes the spacebar is pressed several times to line up text. Also there are still some of you out there who press the spacebar twice after a fullstop.

You should use the ruler settings to avoid pressing the spacebar more than once.

There is no need to press the spacebar more than once after punctuation because today you are using proportional spacing (the letter M takes up more space than the letter I). Electronic typewriters had monospacing (all characters took up the same amount of space – like Courier font today) so you did the double space to separate sentences more clearly.

The golden rule is: If you press the Spacebar more than once you are doing something wrong!!

Medical Director Tip - Importing pdf documents

Portable Document Files (pdf) cannot be imported into the Letters section of Medical Director but they can be imported into Documents. Generally speaking Letters (where you use LetterWriter) are for outgoing documents (what you create) and Documents are for incoming correspondence. Sometimes you are forced to fill in a pdf form (outside of Medical Director), for example a CHAP assessment. When this happens you can only import it later into Documents, which is far from ideal, but unavoidable.

This weeks IM problem - Saving a recall list in MD3

Question: Help! The save function to save recall lists is no longer available?

Answer: You are right and I have mentioned this several times in the last 2 years and nothing has happened. For a full list of differences between MD2 and MD3 recall see the cheatsheet on the NEVDGP website: MD2 and MD3 Recall Systems Compared

Humour

Jesus was …

There were 3 good arguments that Jesus was Black:
1. He called everyone brother.
2. He liked Gospel.
3. He didn't get a fair trial.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Jewish:
1. He went into His Father's business.
2. He lived at home until he was 33.

3 He was sure his Mother was a virgin and his Mother was sure He was God.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Italian:
1. He talked with His hands.
2. He had wine with His meals.
3. He used olive oil.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was a Californian:
1. He never cut His hair.
2. He walked around barefoot all the time.
3. He started a new religion.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was an American Indian:
1. He was at peace with nature.
2. He ate a lot of fish.
3. He talked about the Great Spirit.

But then there were 3 equally good arguments that Jesus was Irish:
1. He never got married.
2. He was always telling stories.
3. He loved green pastures.

But the most compelling evidence of all - 3 proofs that Jesus was a Woman:

1. She fed a crowd at a moment's notice when there was virtually no food.
2. She kept trying to get a message across to a bunch of men who just didn't get it.

3. And even when She was dead, She had to get up because there was still work to do.
